(Reader: Autumn) A Call to Civil Disobedience

Reader Post | By Autumn

There lived a man who was not afraid to touch the downtrodden in his day. Many of those who were downtrodden had to live far outside the town or city. Some lived in caves. Others in mountainous ravines.

They were lepers. The man who touched them, healed them, and gave them hope, was Jesus (Yeshua).

This Covid, if there really is such a thing, has made us fearful. We have kept ourselves hidden indoors, afraid to venture outside. We have been told we cannot hug or shake hands. We cannot comfort another in the ways we used to.

What if, all along the 'covid thing' has been nothing more than a bad flu. We know how to deal with that.

Were we frightened into such a fearsome state so as to keep us from one another? We have been told we couldn't go to church. We couldn't go to a restaurant or skating rink. If we had to shop,we had to stand outside the store so as one person left, one person could go in.

I fell for all these restrictions myself but have since realized that more harm has been done to the human race than the harm of the virus.

We are social beings. We need one another. We need to see, touch, hold, hug, shake hands, pat on the head or shoulder. We need to display our caring and our love.

I listen to Fox News each night. I have heard many doctors come on the programs whose medical expertise is so unlike Dr. Fauci's.

The masks have made us more sick, especially those with respiratory illness. We all NEED MORE AIR. We need to get outside with nature and breathe in the fresh air deeply. We need to smell the pines, sit by the ocean or lake, walk along a wooded path, sit with a friend on a park bench.

We need to get back to hugging each other, shaking hands, allowing our friends and family to SEE the smile on our faces.

We could use a little CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE like Emerson and kick the fear mongering to the wind , and while we're at it, feel the wind on our faces.

We have allowed this THING to steal our happiness, our hope, our health.

Yes, the flu can kill. but not as much as depression, hopelessness, desperation can.

I would challenge you to find an inner strength and courage to commit CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE when circumstances allow you to.

Above all, I would encourage you to put aside your fears and remember that things will get back to being normal if we are brave enough to bring NORMAL back into our lives and into our world.

Yes, we must still wear masks to go into church or stores, but remember to go outside and get fresh air into your lungs too. Do not be afraid to hug or shake hands. Let us give one another what is sorely missing. Let us lift one another up in hope, in kindness and in love.
